Artist Statement
The weird, morbid, quirky, silly, awkward, bold, and quietly strange are the things which mesmerize me. Those who see and appreciate that which most people ignore are my kindred spirits. With my work I reveal the overlooked, take pride in the abnormal, and celebrate that which most people, consciously or unconsciously, try not to see. With subject matter which is simultaneously dark and humorous, I capture and spread that which snatches my attention, with a wink at my audience, in order to connect with and comfort those out there who are similar to myself. I believe if you can find a way to laugh at or claim that which is unspeakably horrible, you rob it of its claws. By focusing on weirder or darker aspects of humanity, I am conquering my fear. The best way to face a monster is to look it in the eye.
